Point to point courses on the beginner-friendly Huron Meadows map.
Metropark daily or annual sticker required - purchase at the golf club house on the north side of Hammel. This is not a DNR / Recreation passport venue!
This will be a standard meet. The start will be near the picnic shelter in the south parking area. this is close to the huron river. There is a bathroom.
Approx. Course Distances
1km training
2.8 km yellow on trail
3.8km orange using handrails and large features
5.5 km green
7.0 km red
There will be an optional pace count training- a 4 leg of 100meter each set of markers so someone can count paces for walking on level trail/grass running on level ground, going through woods off trail. Pace counting is a good way to know when to turn off a trail or road to seek a control.
If a scout group contacts me by email by 3/21/2020 I can create several stations that would give credit for badge work- send email to drjessf@comcast.net and include o-meet or orienteering in the subject.
